What is a Creator Stake?

A Creator Stake is a promise from a brand to you: if the brand grows, you get part of that growth in cash. Explained in plain language.

In one sentence

A Creator Stake is a kind of option on a brand's growth: for every € 20, € 15 or € 10 you sell with your code you get 1 stake, and if the brand grows from the start of your partnership, you later receive that added value in cash. Are you a brand? Then read how it works for brands.

How do you earn stakes?

You join a brand's Creator Stake Plan and get your own discount code (and a link that applies it). Your followers get a discount. For every € 20, € 15 or € 10 in net sales with your code you get 1 Creator Stake: the brand picks that speed per plan (Steady, Boost or Turbo).

There is a small threshold: you need at least € 250 in sales. Once you reach that, your first sales count too. Returns are deducted automatically.

What is a stake worth?

At the start every stake is worth € 1. After that it moves with the brand's value. If the brand becomes worth 5× as much, your stake is worth € 5. Your gain is the difference with the start: € 4 per stake.

We calculate the brand's value with one fixed formula: the higher of 1.5× revenue or 8× profit. Brands submit their figures every six months. Read how we value a brand.

When do you get paid?

Within 5 years at the latest, the brand buys back your stakes at their value at that moment. It can happen earlier: when the brand is sold, or when the brand buys back your stakes early. A sale and a buyback pay exactly the same: the growth since your partnership started.

Example: you sell € 5,000 and get 250 stakes. The brand becomes worth 5× as much. You get 250 × € 4 = € 1,000. Is that more than commission? Read Creator Stakes vs affiliate commission.

What it is not

A Creator Stake is not a share. You don't buy anything, you have no voting rights and you don't have to manage anything. It is an agreement in a contract between you and the brand. Stakefluence handles the contracts, calculates the value and oversees the payout. Read the legal basis.

And if the brand doesn't grow?

Then your stake pays nothing. But you never lose money either, because you never pay anything. If a brand goes bankrupt, you have a claim for the growth up to that point. Often little or nothing is left then (more on bankruptcy). That is why it is smart to choose brands that fit you and that you believe in. More questions? See the FAQ.
